La pista de La Coruña abre sus puertas…

Son las 6.30 de la mañana y me encuentro en los camarotes de los artistas del Coliseum de La Coruña. Es muy probable que en esta misma silla en la cual estoy sentado ahora mismo, alguna vez se ha sentado también Julio Iglesias, Alejandro Sanz, Eros Ramazzotti, Chayanne o el famoso mago David Copperfield. Todos han actuado en el Coliseum de La Coruña ¿Qué hago aqui? Pues acabo de pasar la noche haciendo hielo, capa por capa, en lo que va ser la pista de hielo móvil más grande de España. O sea, el artista no soy yo… la estrella va ser el hielo. Mañana 21 de noviembre se abren las puertas. Por primera vez, aparte de la pista de hielo, los clientes nos han encargado una zona aparte para practicar el curling y dar clases de patinaje sobre hielo. Ahora solo falta un par de regadas más para terminar y entregar la pista de hielo al cliente. El año pasado, pasaron unos 30.000 patinadores por esta pista que ya entra en su décima edición. Superar esta afluencia no va ser fácil con la actual crisis, pero una cosa esta claro… los usuarios se van a encontrar con una superficie helada en las mejores condiciones y unos patines rojos acorde con el color de la valla.

Rockefeller on Ice abre sus puertas en New York

La pista más famosa del mundo siempre me ha atraído mucho y ha servido como fuente de inspiración en el desarrollo de pistas de hielo móviles en todo el mundo. Pero la pista de hielo WWIP es la que más se acerca a la elegancia de Rockefeller. Nuestro vallado perimetral transparente y pasamanos en color rojo es similar a la que rodea a la madre de todas las pistas de hielo.

Desde su inauguración en el día de Navidad del año 1936, la pista de hielo de Rockefeller ha atraído a más de 250.000 patinadores cada temporada. The Rink esta abierta desde el pasado 13 de octubre hasta principios de abril, dependiendo de las condiciones climatológicas del momento. Tiene unas dimensiones de 20 x 40 metros y admite un aforo máximo de 150 patinadores a la vez. Para entrar no se admite tarjetas de crédito, solo cash.

La ciudad de los Sanfermines acoge hielo WWIP

Este invierno, los pamplonenses cambiarán los toros por los patines. Desde el 29 de noviembre hasta el 29 de enero, WWIP convertirá la antigua estación de autobuses de Pamplona (Navarra, España) en una verdadera pista de hielo de 600 metros cuadrados. Se trata de una iniciativa del Ayuntamiento que cuenta ya con siete años de vida y que se ha convertido en un clásico de la Navidad pamplonica.

This winter, the citizens of the world famous bull running city of Pamplona (Spain), will exchange the bulls for the skates. From 29th November untill 29th January, WWIP will transform the city centers former bus station, in a true 600 square meter ice skating rink. This Town Council initiative has been coming back for the last 7 years and has turned out to be a clasical in the cold winters of Pamplona Xmas.

La pista de hielo más grande de España en A Coruña

Este invierno, los coruñenses estarán de buena suerte. El gobierno local ha puesto toda su confianza en WWIP para instalar lo que será la pista de hielo móvil más grande de España. Con sus 900 metros cuadrados de superficie helada y 400 pares de patines, la pista de La Coruña se inaugurará el viernes 21 de noviembre en el conocido Coliseum , un edificio multi-usos y una de las obras arquitectónicas más útiles y emblemática de la ciudad. Diversión sobre hielo garantizada hasta el 25 de enero de 2009.

This winter, the citizens of La Coruña in the north of Spain will be very happy people. The local government has put its trust in WWIP to install what will be the biggest mobile ice skating rink in the country. With its 900 square meter ice and 400 pairs of ice skates, the ice sheet will open its door on Friday 21st November in the well-known Coliseum , a multi-use and emblematic building in the heart of the city. El hielo une a dos culturas y etnias en Ceuta

WWIP ha sido elegido por los gobernadores de Ceuta (una ciudad autónoma de España, situada a orillas del Mar Mediterráneo, en el estrecho de Gibraltar y ubicada en el continente africano) para instalar una pista de hielo temporal de 600 metros cuadrados en el centro de la ciudad. Durante las vacaciones navideñas, la superficie helada unirá a ciudadanos de dos culturas y de dos etnias diferentes… una de las razones porqué nos gusta hacer hielo… La pista estará abierta desde el 19 de diciembre 2008 hasta el 11 de enero de 2009.

WWIP has been elected by the Government of Ceuta (an autonomous city of Spain, located on the North-West African side of the Strait of Gibraltar, on the Mediterranean) to install a 20×30 meter mobile ice skating rink in its city center during the X-mas period of 2008. The ice sheet will bring together in harmony, two completely different cultures, two races and two languages… One of the reasons why we really love ice… The rink will open to public on 19th December untill 11th January 2009.

WWIP launches its brand-new website

Today is a very important day to all the members of our wwip-team. Today we launch our brand-new website. After nearly three years of I+D, now we can finally show the world what we have been up to all this time.

Hundreds of drawings, endless conversations and meetings involving commercial and technical staff, material testing at minus zero temperatures, inventing and developing brand-new products and distinguishing services, improving our production line and stipulating commercial and strategic guidelines on short and long term … are just a few of the things we have been doing.

The result? The first “do-it-yourself” mobile ice skating rink in the world. You can find out all about it on our website.

In the specific and small world of ice rink manufacturers, where nothing really extraordinary has happened for many years, coming up with something new requires a lot of inspiration, determination and of course… many years of experience.

It has been fun. It really has been Big Fun and a fulfilling experience. Especialy if one realizes that in a world where everything already seems to have been invented, one can still differentiate any service and even develop a new, a better and a faster product than ever before at an unbeatable market price.

But this is just the beginning of our new adventure. In the near future we will continue developing innovative products and offering our customers differentiating services. In the process, we promise to take into deep consideration every possible ecological issue which is in our power to change and improve.
